The scheme created a new purpose-built studio theatre complete with changing facilities and a full refurbishment of the existing internal area. Work to the front of house included creating an open-plan foyer and bar area with associated seating and amenities. The creation of a new feature entrance and glazed feature facade completed the design.
The project delivered a more flexible, user-friendly, and inviting space not only for feature performances but for use by local community groups. The studio theatre also provides the option of running two shows simultaneously, all of which help generate increased income for the theatre.
Todd Milburn was appointed to provide Contract Administrator, Quantity Surveying and CDM Coordinator services on the extension and refurbishment of the existing theatre facility. The complex refurbishment was managed and phased in such a way as to not disrupt the planned shows, awarding safe access to staff, performers and guests during the works.
